Jelena Stupljanin, born in Belgrade, Serbia, is an accomplished actress with a rich artistic journey. She graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts with BFA in Acting and MFA in Musical Theatre studies at the University of Belgrade. Jelena’s talent shines on both national and international stages.
In the early 2000’ she was a member of the renowned Serbian theater company Atelje 212. Since then, she has performed in over 30 mainstream productions, including works by Nina Raine, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, Neil LaBute, Howard Brenton and Samuel Beckett. Her European theater tours have left an indelible mark.
In 2005, Jelena received a scholarship to attend the Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute in New York City. During her 12-year tenure in NYC, she graced Off-Broadway stages as a member of the Rising Phoenix Repertory.
Her TV and film credits include a role in NBC’s series The Blacklist alongside James Spader, a lead role in Nikita Milivojević’ film that’s been entirely shot in NYC Jelena, Katarina, Marija and a lead role in the award-winning film Love Hunter. Jelena’s accolades extend to the Alexandria Int. Film Festival, where she won the Best Actress award for her role in Danis Tanovic’s Cirkus Columbia (2011).
Recently, she has been captivating audiences in Serbian TV productions. In 2021, Jelena clinched the Best Actress Award at the Int. Basta Fest Film Festival for her lead role in Everything in Its Right Place (directed by Nikola Stojanović).
Currently, Jelena graces the stage as Pepa in the musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown at Terazije Theatre in Belgrade.
