Dance performance “Climatic Dances“ by the choreographer of Chilean-Mexican origin, Amanda Piña, is dedicated to a mountainous region her mother comes from, whose ecosystems are endangered through projects by multinational companies. It is a visual-atmosphere installation which symbolically resembles a mountainous region, but a live, breathing and active one. All of it is created through a gradual, slow and stylized movement, by choreographed bodies that emerge out of the visual surroundings, which has an emphasized ritual character. The final dance is marked by the same character, offering a meta-comment: contemporary western civilization does not endanger only nature but ancient cultures as well.
